In April 2004 the ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) Automation Team received approval for a multimillion dollar program aimed at creating a step change in automation within CPC's conventional operations. The key objectives of the program are to improve operational efficiencies through accelerated production, lower Overhead & Operating expenses, and improving Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance.
Comprised of some 25 distinct projects the program scope will affect upwards of 3000 remote sites and a number of central processing facilities.
Several key elements of the program are; standard site designs, consistent project execution, and appropriate support to ensure effective utilization of the installed systems.
In June 2004, Hinz Automation Inc. was selected as the Prime Automation Contractor for the program, charged with having EPC responsibilities on all of CPC's Canadian Conventional Operations major automation projects going forward. Program is expected to be complete by the end of 2007.
