Senior Electrical Project Engineer - Vancouver, BC

Position:

Our Vancouver office, located on Annacis Island, is currently celebrating 20 years of service to the West Coast Region. Due to market growth, we are seeking a lead electrical engineer with hydro power generation and transmission protection design experience. As a lead team member you will be expected to prepare manpower and capital cost estimates, liaise with customers and prepare project scope and design documents. You will be assigned project work and report to project managers while coordinating the activities of the other design team members.

You must be able to work with minimum supervision and recognize and effectively utilize the abilities and resources within other team members.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Taking the lead electrical design role
  • Project man-hour estimating and control
  • Project scope definition and capital cost estimating
  • Preparation of equipment and construction specifications
  • Short circuit, load flow, power factor and coordination studies
  • Design of electrical substations and ground grid systems
  • Design of power distribution systems
  • Design and application of protective schemes for power distribution and transmission systems
  • Construction support and commissioning assistance

Requirements:

Candidates must have a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university and current registration in APEGBC or one of the provincial engineering associations. Applicants require ten or more years experience in the design of industrial power distribution systems. Computer skills and the use of ETAP power system analysis software is an asset. Experience in the electric utility industry would be an asset.
